A purple silk velvet coat with a fur collar and cuffs. The fur cuffs and collar are possibly made of chinchilla, the back of the collar is backed with silk velvet. The coat opens in the center font. Two sets of metal snaps are sewn on each side of the center front opening which are below the fur collar. These metal snaps fit with another pair of metal snaps sewn on the edge of the underside of the collar. When the snaps are fitted together the collar transitions into a standing collar which fits closely around the neck. Gathers are sewn along each shoulder seam. The three quarter length sleeves have fur cuffs, they are wider on the outside and narrower along each side seam. Two self fabric buttonhole loops are sewn to the proper right side of the center front opening. Their matching buttons are missing. Gathering is sewn along the center back of the neckline below the collar. The coat is self faced along the edges of the center front opening and fully lined with peach silk crepe. A five inch long pocket is set into the self facing on the proper left side of the center front opening. A pleated ruffled band is sewn along the edge of the pocket opening, it is made of the same fabric as the lining. The silk velvet and silk crepe are folded together and hand sewn along the hemline. Three bands of synthetic machine lace are sewn below the collar on the back of the coat at the interior. These bands were likely a later addition. The jacket is machine and hand sewn and does not have a label.
