Bagged shell casings from General Colin L. Powell's burial service

These are the shell casings from the 21-gun salute at General Powell's burial service at Arlington National Cemetery on November 5, 2021. Soldiers assigned to the Presidential Salute Battery, 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment, known as The Old Guard, rendered the salute at General Powell's burial service. The shell casings were presented to Alma Powell, General Powell's widow.The 21-gun salute is a military tradition that began in the 14th century and is recognized by many nations today. Made by cannon or artillery, it is the highest honor rendered.
