A red, white and blue striped tie worn by Melvin Van Peebles. The silk and wool blend tie features diagonal stripes of red, blue, and gold in varying widths. It’s constructed from one panel of fabric that is vertically seamed together at the back, running the entire length of the tie. A blue rectangular triangular fabric tag with gold embroidery is stitched to the center back, near the wider end. The gold embroidery reads [THE / BERT PULITZER / COMPANY]. Towards the opposite end of the tie is a second label that reads [SANSBROOK / POPLIN / 50% SILK / 50% WOOL] in embroidered text on the front and [RN 21930]. Sewn over the center seam above is a black rectangular fabric label with gold text that reads [Bloomingdale’s / Men’s Store] with flourishes framing the top and bottom of the text. The inside of the tie is lined with orange silk wool blend material.
