Kamisaka Sekka’s younger brother Yūkichi was a lacquer artist and produced several of Sekka’s designs, like this box. The cover of this vessel is cut with fan-shaped openings to offer a glimpse of the decorated container beneath, offering a unique and elegant play between the container and its lid.
