1966–1995
Ramberg studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago from 1968 through 1970, and she later became an influential professor at the school as well as a valued mentor to generations of female students. Fascinated by the human figure and the way garments have contoured and restricted the body throughout history, Ramberg often depicted fragmented bodies in her art, as seen in this drawing of a series of hands; the work also reflects Ramberg’s interest in the psychology of bondage.
