Alexander Calder, Dog, 1926–1931. Painted sheet metal, cork, wire and string, overall: 4 1/8 × 3 1/4 × 2 5/8 in. (10.5 × 8.3 × 6.7 cm). Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; purchase, with funds from a public fundraising campaign in May 1982. One half the funds were contributed by the Robert Wood Johnson Jr. Charitable Trust.
