Alexander Calder, Sheep, 1926–1931. Brass wire, aluminum wire, thread, sheep skin with wool, overall: 2 7/8 × 5 1/8 × 1 7/8 in. (7.3 × 13 × 4.8 cm). Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; purchase, with funds from a public fundraising campaign in May 1982. One half the funds were contributed by the Robert Wood Johnson Jr. Charitable Trust.
