A velvet skull cap hat with fabric flowers, bow, and veil. The interior structure of the hat is made of buckram blocked to shape. The exterior of the hat is made of periwinkle velvet and is pleated four times. Black bias-cut black synthetic velvet is sewn along the exterior edge of the hat. A pink and periwinkle fabric flower is sewn to the center front of the hat with a smaller bud above the central flower. The center flower is constructed of periwinkle synthetic velvet petals and pink synthetic petals. The flower's pistils are made of paper. The stems are made of wire covered with green fabric. Above the flower, there are three loops of black synthetic velvet with encased wire. A black synthetic net bow is sewn behind the fabric flower. Two green synthetic velvet leaves are hand-stitched to the center top of the crown with black silk embroidery thread. A pink silk veil is hand tacked to the hat at the top of the crown towards the front and at the center back edge of the hat. The veil is comprised of two panels that overlap on top of the crown. A black cotton-synthetic blend petersham ribbon is handsewn along the interior edge. The hat is lined with ivory synthetic. A woven fabric label is sewn to the center back interior of the hat along the petersham ribbon which reads [The Star / Millinery Shop / Exclusive / 32 EAST 125TH ST. N.Y.C.].
