The dress has a boat neckline with a raised waist seam that is slightly under the bust. A five-inch bust dart is sewn on each side and two pleats are sewn on each side along the waist seam. Two five-and-a-half-inch darts are sewn on each side below the waist seam slightly askew from the pleats above. A small plastic faux shell button is sewn along the neckline at the proper right side of the center back opening. This aligns with a thread eye on the proper left side. A twenty-one-inch zipper is sewn below the button along the center back seam. On pleat is sewn along the waist seam on each side of the center back zipper. A dart is sewn below the waist seam which aligns but is slightly askew from the pleats above. A six and a quarter inch vent is sewn along the center back seam, ending at the hem. The dress is self-faced along the neckline and armscyes. The interior seams have pinked edges. Lingerie guards made of metal snaps and white synthetic ribbon are sewn to the top of each shoulder. Cotton bias tape is sewn to the bottom of the folded hem at the interior. The bias tape is sewn with machine stitching, it is then sewn with hand whip stitches to secure it to the interior. It is unlined and unlabeled. The jacket (b) is made of the same fabric as the dress. It has a round neckline and a center front opening. The sleeves end above the elbow, they are not set in. An additional five-inch panel is sewn at the ends of the sleeves. The jacket is cropped, ending at the waistline. Self-facing is at the neckline, center front opening, and hem. Cotton bias tape is sewn where the sleeve is attached to the extended panels. French seams are at the interior, the dress is unlined and unlabeled.
