A blue silk dupioni dress and jacket. The sheath dress (a) has a sweetheart neckline with short sleeves and ends below the knee. A one-and-a-half-inch dart is sewn on each side of the neckline. A five-inch diagonal bust dart, and a twelve-inch shaping dart are sewn to each side of the dress. The dress has a rounded neckline in the back and a sixteen-and-a-half-inch zipper is sewn along the center back seam. A five-inch dart is sewn along the neckline at each side. The zipper has plastic teeth and a metal pull. An eleven and a half inch shaping dart is sewn to each side of the center back zipper. A six-inch vent is sewn along the center back seam. The dress is lined with blue synthetic, possibly acetate. The sleeves were possibly a later addition as they are attached by hand around the armscyes. Interfacing is placed along the neckline between the lining and exterior fabric. Excluding the sleeves, the garment is machine sewn. The exterior and lining fabrics are sewn together at the side seams. Both layers are pressed open, and machine stitched down. The hem has a double fold and is finished with a row of machine stitching and is secured to the interior of the dress with hand whip stitching. The jacket (b) is made of the same fabric as the dress. It has a round neckline with a center front opening. The jacket has three-quarter length sleeves, and a six-inch dart is sewn to the top of each shoulder on the front and the back. The jacket is cropped, ending at the waist. It is lined with blue synthetic possibly acetate, the same fabric as the lining on the dress. It is self-faced along the center front opening and the neckline. Interfacing is placed below the facing. The jacket is machine sewn. Both the dress and jacket are unlabeled.
