A writ of execution issued by Wentworth Cheswill in Newmarket, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, in 1810. Judgment is issued against Luther Barter for damages inflicted on a team of oxen, seized "with force and arms," owned by Samuel Bordman. Document is partially preprinted, with details and a full accounting of the circumstances handwritten in dark ink. Cheswill signed at bottom right in highly legible script. Paper is folded into thirds for filing, and these creases have led to tears at the edge of the sheet. The paper is brittle with darkening around outer edges and along creases. The edges are roughly cut. There is a small square of paper adhered to the upper left corner that does not appear to be a repare of a hole or tear and is possibly covering a stain. The adhesive is causing the the paper to pucker around the area on the reverse.
