A brass chalice with detachable bowl (a) and stand (b). The chalice is in a simple, streamlined style. The chalice bowl (a) consists of a bell-shaped cup and knop stem. The base of the stem has a threaded screw that attaches into a threaded hole in the base. The chalice base (b) has a conical foot, and is wider in circumference than the chalice bowl. The top of the base has a small collar where the bowl screws into the base. A cross, with fleur-de-lis designs at each of the four points, is screwed into and bolted to one side of the base. The cross indicates which way the chalice should face on the altar. Etched onto the hollow inside of the base is [U. S.].
