Charleston slave badge from 1800 for Mechanic No. 177

This is an octagonal metal slave badge. On the recto is text that reads “No. 177 [engraved] / MECHANIC [stamped] / 1800 [stamped].” On the verso is a stamped cartouche at the top center with the maker's name “ATMAR.” There is a hole punched at the center top. There is crease in the metal running diagonally from upper proper right corner to lower proper left.
