A marriage certificate and license for Benjamin Petty and Mary Robinson, issued November 7, 1871 by the commonwealth of Kentucky. The marriage license is on the top of the document. It lists the bride and groom, the date, and is signed by the clerk, Rod Perry. The marriage certificate is on the bottom of the document. The certificate lists the date of matrimony, the names of the bride and groom, the place, and the names of six witnesses: [Henry Johnson, John Hamilton, George Hamilton, Rabb Hughes, Clay Elliston]. The documents both have pre-printed text surrounded by a floral boarder. Additional information was written by hand in black ink in the fill-in sections of each document. The back of the document has handwritten text in ink that reads: [1871 / Benjamin Petty, col. / To M. L / Marry Robinson col.]. There is also handwritten text in pencil that lists the names of the witnesses again. An inscription of numbers can be found at the top left corner on the verso.
