“When Malindy Sings” is a poem written in tribute to Paul Laurence Dunbar’s mother, Matilda. This book pairs Dunbar’s dialect poetry with photographs of African Americans captured by the Hampton Institute Camera Club, a group consisting mostly of white faculty members.
