Terminal chock from a chariot

Chariot (?) fitting and wooden stand. A terminal chock. Deep socket; one rivet hole visible. All but the under and bearing surfaces decorated with designs inlaid with gold and silver foils somewhat obscured by patination and accretions due to burial.
