The islands in a frame. Amsterdam city

Paul Werner made this wood-cut as poster and invitation-design for an exposition of paintings drawing and graphic art of the district Eastern Islands in Amsterdam, Oosterkerk, 1991. The wood-cut presents a view on the old harbour area Oosterdok and the wide canal in front: Nieuwe Vaart. The image is seen in the city center of Amsterdam, seen in the direction of Central Station. At the right the building of the contemporary Maritime Museum.
