Lantern-shaped vase penciled with scrolling lotus

This vase is shaped like a lantern. Its decoration is executed entirely in very fine brushstrokes, an effect often described as “penciled.” The central design consists of scrolling lotus, with three large flowers interspersed with smaller flowers, their undulating stems and elaborate foliage crisscrossing the surface of the vase in a wide band.
