Coral-Ground Water Pot

This exquisite little pot would have been on a scholar's desk to hold the water used for writing. The base has a light underglaze blue with a border of sixteen upright lotus petals similar to the neck border. The remainder of the exterior is covered with a brilliant coral-red soufflé ground.
