We are standing on the Shōhei Bridge, watching the boatmen as they transport loads of lumber along the Kanda River. On the far side, above the sloped bank, we can see the Yushima Seidō Temple, dedicated to Confucian thought, of which only an outer wall is visible. Temple visitors, holding umbrellas in the summer rain, walk along the footpath toward it. The print at top is the second version of eight, printed with a yellow title cartouche with red clouds. In later versions, the left hill was printed entirely in green, without its reddish-brown foot. In version no. 5, displayed below, which was conceived as a night view, the hill was given a dark blue gradation.
