The gorowije ine hat has been worn by Dogon men in Mali for centuries. These hats are made of locally woven strip cloth dyed with indigo or earhen brown pigments, with twisted cotton ties on the sides and at the back of the crown. This hat also has thin aluminum strips as decoration. Dogon men of all ages wear the gorowije ine everyday. The same style is worn in white for funerals and other ritual celebrations.
