Say what? Will this conversation go anywhere? Will these people ever understand one another? They appear to speak different languages, perhaps literally but more likely figuratively. Saul Steinberg was a master of concise, universal expression. His visual language is understandable regardless of the language spoken by the viewer. He made the thick undulating lines with rubber stamps, one of his favorites types of drawing implement.
