Isabel Bishop tirelessly experimented with traditional materials and methods in order to capture the vitality of New York City. She taught for decades at the Art Students’ League and had a studio near the busy and colorful Union Square in Manhattan. Among her favorite subjects were crowds of people interacting in the streets and in city squares.
