Portrait of a Woman

The son of the celebrated academician of the same name, Alexandre Abel de Pujol began drawing in the cradle and received a rigorous artistic training in his father’s well-attended studio. The young Abel de Pujol, like his father, had a successful painting career, frequently exhibiting works at the Paris Salons. Yet today he is best remembered for his skillful and lifelike portrait drawings like the present sheet, which are often mistaken for his father’s work.
