Taira Kiyomori Seeing Skulls

As the leader of the Heike clan, Taira Kiyomori (1118-1181) ruthlessly pursued political power in order to crush the Genji/Minamoto clan. In his later years, he began to have horrific visions in which he saw hundreds of skulls of his slayed enemies in the snowy garden of his villa. As seen here, four skulls of the men he had killed are rising from the snow.
