Through his paintings, Skreber challenges seemingly contradictory ideas in contemporary painting such as abstraction and figuration, color and line, beauty and catastrophe. The content is a vehicle for an exploration of formal issues. In Untitled (Camouflage Battledress), Skreber's usual subject matter of trains, car crashes, buildings, and landscapes appears to have shifted. Schematically set battleships are set along thick bands of oil paint. Here, the combination of figuration and geometric linear composition create a disjointed effect within the picture surface.
