Vase, one of a pair

This pair of vases was displayed at the 1867 Paris Universal Exhibition in the booth of Parisian ceramic manufacturer J. Klotz. The official catalogue of the Paris exposition indicates Klotz was one of four French entrepreneurs to display porcelain wares painted and decorated by the chromolithographic process. The adaptation of color printing techniques to ceramic production was one of the innovations celebrated at the 1867 exposition.
