Painted canvas fragment

Partially painted plain weave cotton duck canvas fragment with knife cut edges and a white ground layer extending to a turn edge. Dark red paint applied by brush over the white ground layer. Fragment has a tacking margin with tack holes. Surface accretions are adhered to the paint surface.
