This fragmentary drawing features Kota ruler Rao Madho Singh (r. 1625-1648) mounted on a galloping, caparisoned horse. Surrounding Madho Singh are three attendants on foot. One carries a large, round fan above the ruler’s head, denoting his royal status. At the bottom of the page is an attendant holding up charkhi, an attachment with fireworks that are meant to control and manipulate elephants. In front of horse is the third attendant, carrying a sword over his right shoulder. Rajput Style, Kota School.
