About
Although Macedon was conquered by Rome in 168 BC, its mints continued to produce Hellenistic-style coinage. The obverse of this coin shows Artemis, identifiable by her bow and quiver, centered within an ornate Macedonian shield. On the reverse, a club is enclosed by a wreath and an inscription ascribing this coin to the first region of the Roman client state.
