Thirty-Six Views of the Eiffel Tower: From Behind Frémiet's Elk (Trocadero)

This view of Trocadero Park features one of the sculptures that surrounded a large basin that collected water from a large cascade. The sculpture of an elk stuggling with a boa constrictor was made only of plaster and was almost completely destroyed by 1910. The sculptor, Emmanuel Frémiet, studied animals at the botanical gardens in Paris, which exhibited both flora and fauna.
