Plaque Depicting the Trojan Horse from the Aeneid

This plaque is among the earliest examples of the technique of enamel on copper used during the Renaissance to depict secular scenes. Although it illustrates a passage from the ancient text of the <em>Aeneid</em>, the architecture and dress are more reflective of the courtly style popular in 16th-century France, when this work was made.
