Wine Glass

While most of the vessels in this display were made for diverse alcoholic beverages, this modest English glass, its stem twisted with air bubbles, was used exclusively for wine. Glassmaking in England was largely contained to domestic objects, and the many glasses for wine that still exist from the 1700s suggest the growing popularity of wine among Britain’s upper-middle class.
