Woven silk msimsim wall hangings are made in the Moroccan city of Tétouan, and gifted by a groom to his bride. It is composed of both compound tabby and double tabby weave. Now highly damaged and missing much of its threads, this textile would be placed over a doorway within the new home. Its traditional design is a double-sided gridded brocade (raised woven pattern), navy on one side, crimson on the other.
