Ben Vollers was inspired by the stuff for sale at the flee-market Waterloo, close to his house. In this period a series of paintings of 'collections of things' were created, painted with acrylic and Indian ink, all on paper, In these works Vollers begun to use lines (in ink) for the first time in his abstract painting.
