Coat from the HAND ON HEART Collection, Autumn/Winter

This coat’s design emphasizes the idea that what we wear expresses who we are and how we relate to the world. Walter Van Beirendonck combined a classic menswear silhouette with unexpected additions such as the hand-shaped zippered pocket. Van Beirendonck is an original member of the Antwerp Six, an influential avant-garde fashion group, and continues to create designs with un- conventional details and graphic elements that comment on contemporary social issues such as gender and sexual identity.
