About
This kimono is patterned with stylized bamboo composed of groupings of vertical and horizontal lines. Chrysanthemums float over the bamboo on a diagonal. Within the flowers are scenes depicting reeds and a gabion (jakago), a woven bamboo basket weighted down with stones used to reduce erosion on riverbanks. The overall patterning is a successful combination of stylized renderings and traditional motifs.
