This kimono displays a pattern within a pattern. The combination of vertical stripes with columns of horizontal stepped stripes (dan shimekiri) forms the crisscrosses of an igeta (well-frame) motif. Stripes and igeta motifs are traditional patterns often created using kasuri (ikat) techniques.
