A faculty member in the photography department at the School of the Art Institute for more than 35 years, Kenneth Josephson started teaching there in the fall of 1960, shortly after receiving his master’s degree from the Institute of Design. He took to photographing the surrounding streets of Chicago’s Loop in his spare time. Attracted to the light during the afternoon hours when it cast sharp shadows, Josephson created what he called “little dramas” of passersby, like this one of a man walking in front of a Red Cross truck.
