Pedro Pont Vergés was born in the Argentine province of Corrientes. In 1934 he settled in Córdoba, where he lived until 1967 before moving to Buenos Aires. Between 1977 and 1984 he lived in exile in Madrid, Spain. A graduate of the School of Arts of Córdoba National University, he later held two chairs as a Professor at that University. He worked actively in various cultural fields, fostering the creation of Prizes, Exhibitions, and Biennials. He took part in numerous collective and individual exhibitions not only in Argentina but also in several Latin American countries, Europe, and the United States. In 1963 he received a Special Prize for the best collection of Drawings at the VIIth Biennial of Sao Paulo (Brazil). In 1983 he was awarded a John Simon Guggenheim Scholarship in Fine Arts.
