Oleg Holosiy is the key figure of the 1980-90s Ukrainian painting of New Wave, and one of the most interesting local artists. He only lived 27 years but in his short time, he created over 300 paintings. As a dweller of the legendary Paris Commune squat he bemused his neighbors and audiences with a hyperproductive, fast and performative way of working. His painting was an antipode to Soviet academism, it made up an individual style matching international postmodern trends.
