Mir Ali Tabrizi

b. 1370 — d. 1447

Mir Ali Tabrizi was a distinguished Persian calligrapher in the 14th century, to whom the invention of Nas-Taliq calligraphy style is attributed. He was thus titled "Qodwat al-Kottab" (literarily 'the chief of the scribes'). He invented this calligraphy style by means of combining two older styles together (Naskh and Taliq). Historians have not been able to discover biographical details.
