John Stuart (British, b. Scotland, 1831-1907). Born in Glasgow, John Stuart was a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society. He is known to have exhibited in Glasgow and London from the early 1890s through the turn of the century. His professional commissions included photographing the locomotives made by Neilson & Company and the North British Locomotive Company. Dated from 1865-93, these works are noted for their crisp light, intricate details, and precise printing, and are among the best of their kind. T.W.F.
